BURNOUT COUNSELING
“He restores my soul. He leads me in the path of righteousness for his name sake.” Psalm 23:3
Rest for the weariness
Burnout can leave you feeling tired, unmotivated, weary, and drained. Giving all you have to something without filling your soul back up can make you feel empty and ready to call it quits. During sessions we can focus on what your body, mind, and soul needs; which is restoration.
Seeking fulfillment from God
Burnout usually occurs because we are trying to fill our mind, body, and soul with one thing only. When we give all of ourselves to one thing in life depending on that thing returning the same amount we can be left feeling drained from an unbalanced life. We must learn to live a balanced life to be filled in all areas of life. The only thing that can fill our souls, mind, and body fully is God.
Burnout
Someone can feel burnt out in different areas of life. Being burnt out can make you feel like you have nothing else left to give. You can feel drained from the joy, happiness, life, and peace that an activity used to bring you. The different areas you can feel burnt out in are the following.
Career/work Burnout: This type of burnout is the most typical. You can feel work burnout from giving your time and energy to your work/career. This type of burnout usually occurs when a person neglects other areas of their life from living an unbalanced home and work life.
Spiritual Burnout: This type of burnout can be because you give and give to the church expecting the people of the church to fill you back up instead of the holy spirit filling you back up.
Family Burnout: This type of burnout is from giving all of yourself to your family in expectation that the people in your family will give back to you the same way. In this type of burnout you can feel that you are the only one holding the family relationships or household together.
Friend Burnout: This type of burnout can come from always being the one to reach out to your friends. You can feel like your friends don’t care or even want a relationship. Similar to family burnout you can feel like you are the only carrying the weight of the relationship.
Love Burnout: This type of burnout usually comes from a relationship that is unbalanced. You feel that you are the only one giving into to the relationship and the other person doesn’t care. You can become tired of carrying the weight of the relationship alone.
