Seeking the right path to take when choosing how to utilize your talents in a career can be a daunting task. You don’t have to decide alone. During group college/career guidance we support each other in choosing a path. The topics covered are finding your spiritual talents, the roadblocks that can come in your way, and setting small checkpoints to reach your main goal. During group sessions we will have journal activities, bible verses, guided questions, and prayers.

What do you want to major in? What do you want to do for the rest of your life? Who are you going to be when you grow up? If you have struggled with these questions, let Psalm 23 Counseling guide you to finding the answers. During individual college/career guidance we focus on finding your talents. Also we delve into what career fits not only those talents but also your personality. A trained counselor will walk with you step by step as you complete your journey to finding the right career path for you.

Checkpoints to obtaining your career
First Checkpoint: Figuring out your talents. The questions to answer during this first checkpoint are “What am I good at?” “What comes naturally to me?” “How does my brain work?”
Second Checkpoint: Finding an environment that fits your personality. “What do I enjoy doing?” “What environment do I thrive in?” “Who do I enjoy being around?”
Third Checkpoint: Finding a career that matches your talents and personality. You want to find a career where you can utilize your talents and an environment that your thrive in. Where talents, personality, and environment align up you will find a career you can be happy to go to work everyday.
Fourth Checkpoint: Obtaining a degree and/or certification. Once you have the chosen career you must look at the education needed to obtain that career. Then take the steps to apply, register, attend classes necessary, complete the coursework, and then obtain a degree and/or certification.
Fifth Checkpoint: Creating your resume and applying for positions. Once you have your degree/certification needed you are ready to start applying and sending our resumes. During sessions we will go over what needs to be on your resume and what helps you stand out among other applicants. Also, we will cover what companies/agencies will fit your personality and utilizes your talents the best.
Sixth Checkpoint: Interviewing for a job in your career field. In sessions we will cover interviewing skills such as how to dress, what to say to stand out, and how to present yourself to the company/agency.
